Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A TypeScript library for retrieving Brazilian stock quotes from StatusInvest

CI and coverage npm version npm downloads License

bvmf is an open-source TypeScript library for retrieving stock quotes listed in Brazil. It fetches the public StatusInvest page for a ticker and returns a typed, promise-based result for Node.js applications.

Installation

npm install bvmf

Node.js 18.17 or newer is supported.

Usage

import bvmf from 'bvmf';

const quote = await bvmf({ bvmf: 'itsa4' });

console.log(quote.stock[0]);

By default, providers are tried in this order: StatusInvest, brapi.dev, and Yahoo Finance. A provider is considered successful only when it returns a valid current price; transport errors and malformed responses automatically move to the next provider.

To select a provider explicitly, pass its name:

const quote = await bvmf({
  bvmf: 'itsa4',
  providers: ['brapi']
});

The brapi.dev provider works without a token for supported symbols. For broader coverage, set BRAPI_API_KEY in the server environment. Never expose this value in client-side code.

The result has the following shape. Fields that a provider does not publish are returned as null, and provider identifies the source used:

{
  "total": 1,
  "bvmf": "itsa4",
  "stock": [
    {
      "provider": "statusinvest",
      "currentValue": 11.11,
      "dailyLiquidity": 391.965,
      "yield": 2.67,
      "min2Weeks": 8.57,
      "max2Weeks": 12.05,
      "logo": "https://cdn-statsinvest.azeedge.net/img/company/cove/345.jpg",
      "name": "ITAUSA INVESTIMENTOS ITAU S.A.",
      "site": "https://www.itausa.com.br"
    }
  ]
}

Development

npm ci
npm test
npm run lint
npm run build

The test suite uses Jest and jest-cucumber. Tests mock remote responses, so normal development and CI runs do not depend on a live StatusInvest request.
