Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Local AI finance agents: professions, tools, BytNode market data, models by OpenRouter key or by subscription (ACP).

BytNode-AI

BytNode-AI is a local app for AI finance agents, made by BytNode.

You create agents, give each one a profession and a folder to work in, and talk to them in your browser. They read live market data, write and run code, chart, backtest and follow your exchange accounts — on your own computer. Models come from your OpenRouter key or from the subscription you already have: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, GitHub Copilot or Grok.

Documentation: https://ai.bytnode.com/docs

Early version

BytNode-AI is young and changes quickly. Expect breaking changes between versions.

Agents run commands and write files on your machine, and can trade on the exchange accounts you connect. Read the safety notice before running it.

Run

From npm

Install Node.js (20.19 or newer), then run:

npx bytnode-ai

This installs the bytnode-ai command and opens the app at http://localhost:3777. After that, just run bytnode-ai. Stop it with Ctrl-C.

  • npx bytnode-ai@latest updates it.
  • --port 4000 uses another port, --no-open does not open the browser.

A short setup asks for your profile, how you pay for models, and your first agent. See the install guide.

From source

git clone https://github.com/benjfrem07/bytnode-ai.git
cd bytnode-ai
npm install
npm run dev

The app opens at http://localhost:3777 and reloads as you edit.

Community and support

Development

Start with the architecture documentation: how the app is built, where each part lives, and the commands to check a change (npm run typecheck, npm run lint, npm test).
