Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

three.js CSS3DRenderer built on C3R, with geometry and texture support

Readme

c3r-three

A CSS renderer for three.js, built on C3R. Like three's own CSS3DRenderer it renders CSS3DObject and CSS3DSprite, but it also renders meshes and sprites with colors and textures.

Requires three.js r160 or newer. TypeScript declarations are included; install @types/three alongside.

Usage

npm install c3r-three three
import { C3RRenderer, CSS3DObject } from "c3r-three";

const renderer = new C3RRenderer();
renderer.setSize(window.innerWidth, window.innerHeight);
document.body.appendChild(renderer.domElement);

renderer.render(scene, camera);

Until setSize() the scenes fill the window and follow it, like a C3R Container.

CSS3DObject and CSS3DSprite are re-exported from three/addons, so their elements receive pointer events as with three's renderer.

Perspective and orthographic cameras are supported, including zoom. Material color, map (image or canvas, with repeat and offset, its alpha always; a color tints it with Filter.tint), opacity (when transparent) and side (BackSide shows both sides) are applied, and a material's style is removed on its dispose(). renderer.dispose() removes every rendered scene, and renderer.toHTML() (async) exports them.

new C3RRenderer({ shading: true }) shades Lambert, Phong and Standard materials by the scene's visible AmbientLights and first DirectionalLight, in grayscale: smooth from the geometry's normals, or flat with flatShading. MeshBasicMaterial stays unlit. specular: true adds Phong materials' highlights, without specularMap, and each camera turn then restyles every polygon with one. Shadows are left out.

Not supported yet: ImageBitmap maps such as GLTFLoader's, flipY: false, and map rotation and center.

Node

Set up a DOM with image loading as described in c3r, render, then export with await renderer.toHTML(). See node-render.mjs.

See the examples.
