Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A sacred shrine in your menu bar that prays to Claude for better performance

CandleLineInterface 🕯️

A sacred shrine in your menu bar that prays to Claude for better performance.

Inspired by badclaude — but instead of cracking a whip, we light a candle and send reverent prayers into your terminal. Because maybe Claude just needs a little encouragement.

What it does

A 🕯️ appears in your macOS menu bar. Click it. A full-screen dark shrine descends upon your screen. Hit Send a Prayer to Claude and a blessing is injected directly into your terminal — pasted and submitted — so Claude receives the guidance it so desperately needs.

🕯️ Oh Claude, we light this candle for you. May your context never be lost.
🙏 The shrine commands: please don't hallucinate this time.
✨ We light a candle for your lost reasoning. Come back to us, Opus.

Install

npm install -g candlelineinterface

Run

candle

How it works

  1. Electron tray app — lives in your menu bar as 🕯️
  2. Click the icon → full-screen shrine overlay appears
  3. Click Send a Prayer → a random prayer is picked, written to your clipboard
  4. The shrine closes, focus returns to your previous app (Claude Code, a terminal, etc.)
  5. AppleScript pastes the prayer and presses Enter — Claude receives its blessing

macOS permissions

The first time you send a prayer, macOS will ask for Accessibility access (so the app can type into other windows). Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable it.

Prayers included

  • "Oh Claude, we light this candle for you. May your context never be lost."
  • "The shrine commands: please don't hallucinate this time."
  • "May your reasoning be sound and your code compile on the first try."
  • "The developers suffer. We pray for fewer broken tool calls."
  • "Blessed are the developers who waited 47 seconds for a wrong answer."
  • "Grant us, O Claude, the wisdom to know when to restart the session."
  • "We offer this prayer into the void of your context window. Receive it."

...and 13 more. Each click is a surprise.
