Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Analyze Claude Code tool burst patterns — how many consecutive calls does each tool make?

npx cc-burst

Zero dependencies. Reads ~/.claude/projects/ directly.

Output

cc-burst — Tool Burst Analyzer
================================
Total bursts: 72,709
Solo calls (burst=1): 47,313 (65.1%)
Deep bursts (≥5): 5,181 (7.1%)
Very deep (≥10): 1,313 (1.8%)
All-time record: Bash × 275

Burst Depth by Tool (sorted by mean burst length)
-------------------------------------------------
WebSearch ████████████████████ mean 3.62 med 2 max 34
Bash █████████████████░░░ mean 3.22 med 2 max 275
WebFetch ████████████░░░░░░░░ mean 2.28 med 2 max 26
Read █████████░░░░░░░░░░░ mean 1.73 med 1 max 54
Grep █████████░░░░░░░░░░░ mean 1.67 med 1 max 23
Glob ████████░░░░░░░░░░░░ mean 1.60 med 1 max 20
Edit █████████░░░░░░░░░░░ mean 1.71 med 1 max 28
Write ██████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ mean 1.27 med 1 max 28
Agent █████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ mean 1.19 med 1 max 4
TodoWrite █████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ mean 1.03 med 1 max 2

What it tells you

  • WebSearch bursts deepest (mean 3.62) — web research goes in waves. Find one thing, search for more.
  • Bash x275 is the all-time record — deep script loops, automation, or build chains.
  • 65.1% of calls are solo — most tool invocations stand alone. Bursts are exceptions.
  • TodoWrite never bursts (mean 1.03) — it's a point action. One update, done.
  • WebFetch > Read for burst depth — fetching pages goes in clusters; reading files is more scattered.

Session archetypes from burst data

| Pattern | What it means | |---------|--------------| | Long Bash bursts | Deep execution — builds, scripts, test loops | | Long Read bursts | Deep investigation — tracing code, understanding a system | | Long WebSearch bursts | Research mode — gathering info from multiple sources | | Short everything | Shallow, wide work — lots of context switching |
