Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

despite all of the hype about deep blue and chessbase 12 taking on kasparov, i think the computers will soon be just a tool. if you are looking for an easy and fun way to study openings, study games, or just play a fun game, there is no substitute for chessbase. if you are serious about chess, youll want a database to capture your games, match the moves, and print the game scores. and if you are serious about studying the game, youll want to capture the database data for analysis later.

the software is very easy to use. a step-by-step wizard-like interface guides you through the download process and guides you through the database setup process. i found chessbase 12 to be much more intuitive than the previous version. i was able to navigate the database without the need for help.

the current version of chessbase is version 12, so a decade or more old. while many have upgraded to the full database approach, many have remained with chessbase 12 and 13 provides a full database upgrade option. this makes it a popular choice for younger players.

one of the most popular uses of chessbase 12 is for playing games. the database contains more than 1.5 million games, including many of the top grandmasters games. and because the databases are fully up to date, youll always be able to play all the games from all the years.

chessbase has a powerful set of tools for analyzing games. you can study the tactics, variations, strategy, openings, endgames, and much more. if youre serious about chess, a database is an essential tool. chessbase 12 is the best choice for a beginner. 84d34552a1
