Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Codebox CLI npm version

Save your Code Snippets for multiple Programming Languages directly from the CLI

Installation

$ npm i -g codebox-cli
$ codebox -i

Usage

Command line options

  -V, --version          output the version number
  -i, --init             Initialize Codebox
  -a, --all              Get all Code snippets
  -n, --new              Create new Programming Language
  -s, --snip             Save new Code snippet
  -f, --find             Find Code snippets
  -u, --update           Update Code snippet
  -d, --delete           Delete Code snippet
  -e, --export           Export Codebox snippets
  -c, --clipboard        Code snippet will be from the clipboard
  -l, --language <type>  Set Programming Language
  -t, --title <type>     Set Code snippet title
  -k, --keyword <type>   Keyword to search
  -h, --help             output usage information

Initialize Codebox

// codebox [-i / --init]
$ codebox --init

Create Programming Language Collection

  • Registers a Programming Language
// codebox [-n / --new]
$ codebox --new --language=nodejs

Create New Code Snippet

  • Allows you to save Code Snippets for a specific Programming Language. Adding a -c or --clipboard will get the copied text from your clipboard.
// codebox [-s / --snip]
$ codebox --snip

Search Code Snippet

  • Allows you to search a code snippet from multiple Programming Languages using a keyword. Chosen code snippet will be copied to the clipboard.
// codebox [-f / --find]
$ codebox --find --keyword=vim

Update Code Snippet

  • Allows you to update a code snippet for a specific Programming Language
// codebox [-u / --update]
$ codebox --update

Export Code Snippets

  • Creates a Markdown File for the Collection of Code Snippets for a Specific Programming Language
// codebox [-e / --export]
$ codebox -e --language=kotlin
