Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Code-first workflow automation engine

Readme

cognipipe

Code-first workflow automation for developers. Define pipelines as typed YAML, validate them, and run them from the command line. See CogniPipe.

Requires Node.js >= 22.14.

Install

npm install -g cognipipe
# or add it to a project: pnpm add cognipipe @cognipipe/node-http

Usage

cognipipe --version
cognipipe test workflow.yaml # validate only — never executes a node
cognipipe run workflow.yaml # execute the workflow
cognipipe run workflow.yaml --verbose # also print each step's result

Both commands exit 0 on success and 1 on any error.

Example workflow

# workflow.yaml
name: hello-world
version: '1.0.0'
steps:
  - name: fetch-fact
    uses: '@cognipipe/node-http'
    config:
      url: 'https://catfact.ninja/fact'
      method: GET

  - name: post-fact
    uses: '@cognipipe/node-http'
dependsOn: ['fetch-fact'] # needed to read fetch-fact's output
    config:
      url: 'https://example.com/hook'
      method: POST
      body: '{{ steps.fetch-fact.output.body }}'

cognipipe test checks structure, that every dependsOn name exists, that there are no cycles, that each node package can be resolved, and prints the execution order:

Validating workflow: hello-world (1.0.0)
Structure ✅ Valid
dependsOn refs ✅ All 1 reference resolves
Circular deps ✅ No cycles detected
Node availability ✅ @cognipipe/node-http (found)
                  ✅ @cognipipe/node-http (found)
Execution order:
  1. fetch-fact (@cognipipe/node-http)
  2. post-fact (@cognipipe/node-http)
Result: All checks passed — workflow is ready to run.

Nodes

Each step's uses is an npm package that exports a CogniPipe node. Install the node packages in the same place as the CLI (the same project, or globally alongside it), because the CLI loads them from its own installation context. Steps with no dependsOn run concurrently; use dependsOn whenever a step reads another step's output.

Published nodes: @cognipipe/node-http. To build your own, see @cognipipe/sdk.
