Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

console-vue-query-devtools-sdk

v0.0.16

Published

Lightweight SDK for connecting Vue Query to custom DevTools extensions.

Readme

📦 console-vue-query-devtools-sdk

A lightweight dev-only SDK for visualizing Vue Query cache in Vue 2.7 projects where official Vue Query Devtools are not available.

🚫 The official @tanstack/vue-query-devtools only supports Vue 3.x and Vite-based projects.
✅ This SDK enables cache inspection in Vue 2.7 environments by bridging your app with a custom Chrome DevTools panel.

✨ Features

  • 🔍 Automatically detects and registers the active QueryClient
  • 💻 No UI – the SDK exposes a <ConsoleVueQueryDevtools /> component that runs in the background
  • 🧪 Dev-only – safe to include in production builds (no effect outside NODE_ENV=development)
  • 🔌 Optional client prop – manually test a custom QueryClient if needed

📦 Installation

npm install console-vue-query-devtools-sdk --save-dev
# or
pnpm add -D console-vue-query-devtools-sdk

🚀 Usage

  1. Use in your root app component (e.g. App.vue):
<script setup lang="ts">
import { ConsoleVueQueryDevtools } from 'console-vue-query-devtools-sdk';
</script>

<template>
    <ConsoleVueQueryDevtools />
</template>

💡 That’s it! The component automatically registers the active QueryClient using useQueryClient().

  1. [Optional] Manually provide a QueryClient:
<script setup lang="ts">
import { QueryClient } from '@tanstack/vue-query';
import { ConsoleVueQueryDevtools } from 'console-vue-query-devtools-sdk';

const customClient = new QueryClient({ /* ... */ });
</script>

<template>
  <ConsoleVueQueryDevtools :client="customClient" />
</template>

🧪 Useful for testing multiple clients or using isolated instances.

🧠 How it works

The SDK registers the provided (or detected) QueryClient to window.VUE_QUERY_DEVTOOLS, enabling Chrome extensions to read:

  • query keys
  • observer counts
  • cache state
  • garbage collection time

A postMessage() loop in the injected script transfers the data to your DevTools extension.

🧩 Why this exists

– Vue 2.7 supports Composition API, but not Vue 3 Devtools – @tanstack/vue-query-devtools is Vue 3.x only

  • This SDK fills the gap for legacy or incremental migration projects

🧪 Dev-only by design

This SDK is automatically excluded in production environments.

  • process.env.NODE_ENV or import.meta.env.MODE are used for environment checks
  • No runtime logic will run in non-dev builds

🛠 Requirements

  • @tanstack/vue-query v5+
  • vue 2.7.x
  • Chrome DevTools Extension (must be installed separately)
