Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Cordova Hypergate integration to authenticate with Kerberos on Android

Readme

Hypergate Cordova Plugin

Add this plugin to your Cordova project in order to authenticate through the hypergate Android application.

Installation

To install the plugin use:

cordova plugin add cordova-plugin-hypergate

Usage

After you included this plugin, your application will receive new managed configurations:

  • Account type for HTTP Negotiate authentication: this controls which account type your webview will be looking for whenever there is an authentication challenge. This should be set to 'ch.papers.hypergate'
  • Authentication server whitelist: this controls which servers are allowed to request authentication tokens from hypergate. This can be either a wildcard (*) or the domains you want to enable
  • Whether NTLMv2 authentication is enabled: the title is self explenatory and actually has nothing to do with Hypergate.

After you configured the options in your MDM/EMM/UEM (thing that pushes restrictions aka managed configurations) the webview will deal with all ajax and native requests on its own transparently from your app. This means all your requests will be authenticated automagically.

Note: If you decide not to use the standard ajax request and have a native plugin to perform requests, you will need to go with the "Advanced Usage" below.

Advanced Usage

The advanced usages comes in handy whenever you want to deal with the token yourself. To receive or request a token, just call Hypergate.getToken(authTokenPaths, success, error)

window.Hypergate.getToken(['[email protected]'], (token) => {
	console.log(token);
    }, (error) => {
    console.error(error);
});

If you are using TypeScript, you probably have to declare the window variable first:

declare var window: any;

Important

Do not cache the returned authToken in some way. Each API Call should request the token, otherwise it is possible that the valid expired between the App start and the actuall API Call. The recommended way to implement it, is to use a request interceptor for each call.
