Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

create-blank-mern

Environment

  • Blank React component
  • Express server with a single /api/health route
  • Hot reload via vite-express (no rebuild-on-save)
  • MongoDB connection via Mongoose, extendable with your own models/routes

Usage

npx create-blank-mern my-app-name
cd my-app-name
npm install
cp .env.example .env
# Edit .env with your MongoDB connection string
npm run dev

Visit http://localhost:3000 — React app and Express API run on the same port.

Production

npm run build
npm start
