Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Bodewell App Starter

License: MIT

This repository is the official starter kit for building applications with the Bodewell UI component library. It provides the ideal local environment for designers and developers to rapidly build, test, and validate high-fidelity, interactive prototypes.

The starter kit comes pre-configured with a modern frontend stack to ensure a smooth development experience, allowing you to focus on building your application instead of on project setup.

Getting Started

To create a new project using this starter kit, run the following command in your terminal. This will scaffold a new application in a directory of your choice. "your-project-name" should be customized for your new directory.

npm create bodewell-app@latest your-project-name

This single command will:

  • Create a new project folder.

  • Install all necessary dependencies, including React, Vite, and @bodewell/ui.

  • Set up the recommended folder structure and configuration files.

After the installation is complete:

1. Navigate into your new project

cd your-project-name

2. Install dependencies

pnpm install

3. Start the development server

pnpm run dev

Your new Bodewell application will be running at http://localhost:5173

What's Included?

This starter kit is built on a modern, performant tech stack:

  • Vite: A next-generation frontend tooling that provides an extremely fast development server and build process.

  • React: A JavaScript library for building user interfaces.

  • TypeScript: A statically typed superset of JavaScript that adds type safety to your code.

  • Tailwind CSS: A utility-first CSS framework for rapid UI development.

  • @bodewell/ui: Our own designer-centric component library, pre-installed and ready to use.

The Bodewell Ecosystem

The Bodewell project is an integrated framework architected across three separate repositories:

  • @bodewell/ui A public, open-source component library distributed as an NPM package.

  • bodewell-app-starter (This Repository): A public, open-source starter-kit application that provides the ideal local environment for building with Bodewell.

  • bodewell-app-builder A hosted SaaS application featuring our AI Prototyping Assistant, which guides users through the strategic A.D.A.P.T. Framework to build applications from a solid strategic foundation.
