Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Interactive CLI installer for QA Skills Ecosystem — install skills into Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Cline, Copilot, Windsurf, and 5+ more agents

QA Skills Ecosystem

57 specialized agent skills covering the full QA lifecycle — from requirements to test execution to reporting. Works with Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Cline, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, and more.

Quick Start

npm init qa-skills

Works on any machine with npm — skills are bundled with the package. Pick skills interactively, choose your agent, and go. No confirmation prompts, just like npm init vite or npm init wdio.

Non-interactive (CI/CD):

npm init qa-skills -- -a cursor -s playwright-ts-writer jest-writer -y

Via skills.sh:

npx skills add owner/qa-skills

What's Inside

| Category | Skills | What They Do | |----------|--------|--------------| | Documentation & Planning | 8 | Requirements, specs, NFR analysis, API contracts, test plans, diagrams, test strategy, ISO 29119-3 docs | | Test Case Design | 4 | Test cases from docs, from UI screenshots, browser data collection, manual test design | | TypeScript Test Writers | 7 | Jest, Vitest, Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, CodeceptJS, Supertest | | Python Test Writers | 5 | pytest, Playwright, Selenium, Robot Framework, httpx | | Java Test Writers | 4 | JUnit 5, Selenium, REST Assured, Spring Boot | | Performance & Specialized | 8 | k6, Locust, JMeter, security (OWASP), accessibility (WCAG 2.2), visual regression, Pact contracts, mobile (Appium) | | Reporting & Analysis | 7 | Test reports, coverage analysis, OpenAPI vs tests (playswag), bug tickets, task creation, risk analysis, spec audit | | Orchestration | 1 | Pipeline coordinator with 5 modes and 4 handoff chains | | Support & Maintenance | 7 | Test healer, changelog analyzer, flaky detector, test reviewer, data factory, environment checker, discovery interview | | Integrations | 6 | Qase.io, GitHub Issues, Jira, Linear, ClickUp, Shortcut |

Total: 57 skills, 169 reference files, 14 templates

How It Works

Each skill is a self-contained SKILL.md file with YAML frontmatter, trigger phrases, decision autonomy levels, quality checklists, and troubleshooting tables. Skills work standalone or chain together through the orchestrator.

User: "Write Playwright E2E tests for the login page"
           │
           ▼
   qa-playwright-ts-writer
           │
     reads SKILL.md ──► generates tests in tests/e2e/
           │
           ▼
Output: login.spec.ts with POM pattern, auto-waits, assertions

Orchestration Chains

The qa-orchestrator coordinates multi-skill workflows:

| Chain | Flow | Use Case | |-------|------|----------| | Chain 0 | discovery → requirements → spec → diagram → test cases → tests → healer → reviewer → reporter | New project, full validation | | Chain 1 | requirements → spec → diagram → test cases → tests → reporter | Feature development | | Chain 2 | browser-collector → UI test cases → tests → healer → coverage → tasks | UI-first testing | | Chain 3 | API contracts → test cases → API tests → Pact contracts → reporter | API-first testing | | Chain 4 | flaky-detector → test-healer → test-reviewer → changelog-analyzer | Test stabilization |

Dependency Awareness

Skills declare recommended companions. During installation, the CLI suggests missing dependencies:

qa-task-creator recommends qa-bug-ticket-creator
→ Paired mode: auto-create linked fix tasks from bug tickets

Add recommended skills? [y/N]

Project Structure Convention

Skills route artifacts to standard directories (documented in .cursor/rules/qa-project-structure.mdc):
