Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

CLI to scaffold RBAC/ABAC enabled React and API projects

Readme

🚀 Create RBAC App

The easiest way to scaffold production-ready apps with built-in Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Full-Stack Authentication.

This CLI tool generates two types of templates that share a unified permission logic and a complete JWT system:

  1. Frontend: React (Vite) + Typescript + Redux Toolkit + JWT Flow
  2. Backend: NestJS + Prisma (SQLite) + JWT Strategy

🔐 Production-Ready Authentication

Unlike other templates, we don't use mock data. Both templates are hardwired for security:

  • JWT with Rotation: Access Tokens (15m) and Refresh Tokens (7d) are handled out of the box.
  • State Persistence: Frontend state survives refreshes using Redux Persist.
  • Token Interceptors: Axios is configured to handle token injection and auto-refresh logic.
  • End-to-End Encryption: Secured by @meebon/meebon-crypto for sensitive payloads.

✨ Quick Start

You don't need to install anything globally. Just run:

npx create-rbac-app@latest

Follow the prompts:

  1. Enter your Project Name.
  2. Select a Template:
    • React (Vite + TS + RBAC + Redux)
    • API (NestJS + Prisma + RBAC + JWT)

The CLI will create the folder and copy all the necessary files.

📦 Templates Overview

1. React Template (Frontend)

  • Tech Stack: Vite, React, Redux Toolkit, Redux Persist, Tailwind, Lucide.
  • Features:
    • Redux Store: Centralized auth state with persistence.
    • useAuth() Hook: Easy interaction with authentication and permissions.
    • Guard System: Declarative <Guard> component and ProtectedRoute for routing.
    • Auth Pages: Beautiful, interactive Login and Register pages.

2. API Template (Backend)

  • Tech Stack: NestJS, Prisma (SQLite), Passport, bcrypt.
  • Features:
    • JWT Endpoints: Full login, registration, and token refresh controllers.
    • Database Integration: Real user and role persistence.
    • RBAC Guards: Controller-level @CheckPermissions() enforcement.
    • Secure Hashing: Password hashing via bcrypt.

Unified permission definitions ensure your policy logic stays consistent from the backend to the frontend UI.
