Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Interactive CLI for scaffolding React + Vite stacks with curated tooling presets

Readme

create-react-equalizer

create-react-equalizer is an interactive command-line scaffolder that spins up an opinionated React + Vite project with the tooling and integrations you actually use. Pick your package manager, styling system, data layer, state management, and quality tools so Equalizer wires them together and you can start shipping right away.

Highlights

  • Guided CLI wizard built with @clack/prompts, no arguments required.
  • React-first: always scaffolds React + Vite with optional TypeScript.
  • Tailored dependencies for styling, data fetching, state, and tooling choices. Equalizer generates the install commands and runs them for you.
  • Tailwind automation: wires Tailwind into your React project when selected.
  • Immersive experience with a colorful banner, animated progress spinners, and tip overlays.
  • Blueprint summary with follow-up tasks and suggested project structure.

Quick Start

npx create-react-equalizer@latest
# or
pnpm dlx create-react-equalizer
# or
yarn dlx create-react-equalizer
# or
bunx create-react-equalizer

Follow the prompts to choose:

  • Package manager (pnpm, npm, yarn, bun)
  • TypeScript preference
  • Styling, data, state, and tooling layers

You can press Ctrl+C at any time to abort the wizard; Equalizer stops cleanly without leaving partial installs behind.

Equalizer runs the appropriate create-* command, installs runtime and dev dependencies, and sets up Tailwind when requested. When the wizard finishes you receive a summary of commands executed, follow-up tasks, and the resulting architecture.

What You Get

  • A React + Vite project scaffolded with the official CLI.
  • Dependencies added based on your selections (for example Axios, TanStack Query, Redux Toolkit, ESLint, Vitest, MSW, and more).
  • Post-install scripts (such as Tailwind wiring) executed in the project directory.
  • Structured directory recommendations to help maintain consistency across projects.

FAQ

Can I pass flags instead of using the wizard?
Not yet. The CLI currently focuses on an interactive flow; flag support is on the roadmap.

Does it support custom templates?
Custom presets are not available today, but contributions are welcome. Open an issue with your use case.
