Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Create a Reintersect app: npm create reintersect@latest

Readme

create-reintersect

Create a Reintersect app with one command:

npm create reintersect@latest

pnpm create reintersect@latest and bun create reintersect work too. It asks for a folder, where the app runs, which schema library to use and which package manager to install with. Then it writes the app, installs its dependencies and offers to sign you in and start reintersect dev.

Templates

| Template | Where the app runs | | --- | --- | | hosted (default) | On Reintersect. reintersect deploy uploads it. | | next | Your Next.js app, in a catch-all route under /api. | | hono-bun | Your Hono server on Bun, mounted at /api. | | effect | Your Node server, on Effect's HttpLayerRouter, with Effect Schema and @effect/vitest. |

Every app starts with a Task block and its move action, a task reference with search, a /task command, a File as a task message action, typed env and install config, and tests. It also comes with a GitHub workflow that deploys with reintersect/deploy@v1, an AGENTS.md and an SDK skill that teach coding agents how to build the app, and a reintersect.toml that tells a Reintersect coding sandbox how to install it.

Flags

Pass flags to skip the prompts:

npm create reintersect@latest tasks -- --template next --schema arktype --yes

| Flag | What it does | | --- | --- | | [directory] | The folder to create. Its name becomes the app's name and slug. | | --template, -t | hosted (default), next, hono-bun or effect. | | --schema | zod (default), arktype or valibot. The effect template always uses Effect Schema. | | --pm | npm, pnpm or bun. Defaults to the one running the command. | | --yes, -y | Use defaults for everything you didn't pass. | | --no-install, --no-git | Skip installing dependencies or creating a git repository. | | --login, --dev | Run reintersect login and reintersect dev when the app is ready. |

You'll need Node.js 22 or later, or Bun 1.3 or later.

Next steps

cd tasks
npx reintersect login
npm run dev

npm run check checks the app the way a deploy does, and npm test runs its tests. The app's own README explains how to deploy from GitHub.

Docs

The Reintersect developer docs cover blocks, references, commands, testing and deploys. Apps use @reintersect/sdk.
