Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

create-ridu

v0.2.3

Create a Ridu project with the matching native Ridu CLI.

Readme

create-ridu

Create a project with the native Ridu CLI from the same Ridu release:

npm create ridu@latest my-app
bun create ridu@latest my-app
pnpm create ridu@latest my-app
yarn create ridu my-app

Omit my-app to choose the project directory inside the wizard.

The initializer detects npm, Bun, pnpm, or Yarn and records that choice in the generated ridu.toml. Options after a launcher's argument separator are forwarded to ridu new:

npm create ridu@latest -- --template blank --database sqlite my-app

The initializer runs the matching @riducms/cli release. Generated projects retain that launcher as an exact development dependency. After creation, install and run the generated dev, check, build, migrate, and start scripts with the selected package manager. The documentation writes other project commands as ridu <command> so examples do not change between package managers.

On the first run, the launcher shows the native CLI download status immediately, with elapsed time and received bytes. A percentage appears when the server supplies a usable total. CI and piped output receive plain progress lines every five seconds. Downloads fail with recovery instructions after 30 seconds without a response or further data; set RIDU_CLI_DOWNLOAD_TIMEOUT_MS to a larger millisecond value on a slow connection. A cached CLI starts without download messages.

Any earlier registry download is managed by your package runner, before create-ridu can print. See the launcher README for download details and a local preview command.

Use npm create ridu@latest . to create a project in the current directory. Ridu warns before creation, derives the project name from that directory, and preserves unrelated files. Conflicting project paths stop creation before any project files are added.
