Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

create-shipkit-app

v0.4.2

Published

Create a ShipKit app from Bones and keep it in sync with upstream

Readme

create-shipkit-app

Scaffold and manage ShipKit sites from the command line.

Quick start

npm create shipkit-app@latest my-new-site

Or install globally:

npm install -g create-shipkit-app
shipkit create my-new-site

Commands

| Command | What it does | |---------|--------------| | shipkit create [name] | Create a new project from Bones, the public root template (or --template lacymorrow/shipkit for the everything-included build). Creates a GitHub repo (via gh), clones it, sets the upstream remote to the template, grafts upstream history so future syncs merge cleanly, and installs with the template's package manager. | | shipkit add <items...> | Add ShipKit registry items (npx shadcn add @shipkit/<item>), for example shipkit add payments email. Adds --overwrite automatically for items that replace a Bones stub (payments, storage, payload). shipkit create my-app --add payments, email does it right after install. | | shipkit sync | Pull upstream template changes into your project. Opens a PR branch by default; use --direct to merge into the current branch. | | shipkit deploy | Deploy your ShipKit site to Vercel. |

All commands support -y / --yes for non-interactive use (CI, agents):

npx create-shipkit-app my-new-site --yes
shipkit sync --yes --direct

create options

  • -t, --template <owner/repo>: template repo to scaffold from (defaults to ShipKit Premium, falls back to shipkit-io/bones)
  • -d, --directory <dir>: target directory
  • --no-install: skip dependency installation

Requirements

  • Node.js 18+
  • git (required)
  • gh CLI (optional, enables GitHub repo creation)

Development

bun install
bun run build      # tsup -> dist/index.js
bun run typecheck
node dist/index.js create --help

This CLI previously lived in the lacymorrow/shipkit repo under cli/. It was extracted so the ShipKit template ships lighter.
