Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

⛵ SignalK Plugin: Current Impact Estimator

This SignalK plugin calculates the average Speed Through Water (STW), Speed Over Ground (SOG), and the impact of current on boat speed. It allows users to configure the averaging time window to suit different sailing conditions and preferences.

📦 Features

  • Calculates and publishes:
    • Average Speed Through Water (navigation.averageSpeedThroughWater)
    • Average Speed Over Ground (navigation.averageSpeedOverGround)
    • Estimated Current Impact (environment.currentImpact)
  • User-configurable averaging time window (10 seconds to 5 minutes)
  • Real-time updates every second

🛠 Installation

Prerequisites

  • Node.js and npm
  • SignalK server installed locally (npm install -g signalk-server)
  • Git (for version control)
  • VSCode (recommended IDE)

Steps

  1. Clone the repository:
