Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Cylon i2c Expansion Board Libray

--

NOTE: This is draft documentation. Full API documentation will be available shortly

Cylon.js (http://cylonjs.com) is a JavaScript framework for robotics, physical computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

This repository contains the cylon driver for the able electronics 32 GPIO I2C expansion unit - see https://www.abelectronics.co.uk/p/54/IO-Pi-Plus

The IO Pi Plus is a 32 channel digital expansion board designed for use on the Raspberry Pi A+, Raspberry Pi B+ and Raspberry Pi 2 Model B computer platform. The board is based around the MCP23017 16-bit I/O expander from Microchip Technology Inc. A pair of MCP23017 expanders are included on the board allowing you to connect up to 32 digital inputs or outputs to the Raspberry Pi. The IO Pi Plus Expander is powered through the host Raspberry Pi using the GPIO port and extended pins on the GPIO connector allow you to stack the IO Pi Plus along with other expansion boards.

How to install

Installing cylon.js with expansion board support is pretty easy.

$ npm install cylon cylon-i2cexpander

How to use

var Cylon = require('cylon');

Cylon.robot({
    name: 'test',
    connections: {
        raspi: { adaptor: 'raspi' }
    },

    devices: {
        expander_one: { driver: 'i2cexpander', connection: "raspi", address: [0x20, 0x21] }
    },

    work: function(my) {
    	my.expander_one.setPortDirection(0, 0x00); // set the entire port to be an output
    	my.expander_one.writePort(0, 0x00); // write a low to all pins on the port
        my.expander_one.setPin([1, 2, 3, 4], ON);		// set pins 1,2,3 and 4 to high
		my.expander_one.setPin(5, ON); // set pin 5 to high
	}
})
