Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

dashboard-widgets

v1.3.15

Published

A collection of widgets to help create a clean dashboard for web applications with react easily.

Readme

npm version npm bundle size npm total downloads npm weekly downloads platform react mit license

Installation

$ npm i dashboard-widgets

Then simply import the modules you want:

import {Badge} from dashboard-widgets

The details of how to use each module are below

Features

  • Auto-apply formatting to tables
  • Badges
  • Phone Element
  • Dark Mode Detect

Tables

Use import { FormatTableRows } from "dashboard-widgets"

Pass in data and a function to act as a formatRule. The formatRule prop takes in a cell and returns a classname as a string. formatRuleRow does the same thing but for a table row (represented as an array of cells).

<table className="table bigText">
  <tr>
    <th>Column 1</th>
    <th>Column 2</th>
    <th>Column 3</th>
  </tr>
  <FormatTableRows data={[
      ["1", "a", 1.0],
      [2, "b", 2.0]
    ]}
    formatRule={(cell) => typeof cell == "number" ? "displayRed" : ""}
    formatRuleRow={(row)=> typeof row[0] == "number" ? "displayGreen" : ""}
  />
</table>

With the following CSS classes:

.displayRed {
  color: red;
}

.displayGreen {
  color: green;
}

Produces this output:

Note that the .table class is from bootstrap. This example uses bootstrap styling but it is not required, nor is it a dependency of this project. Bootstrap is available here: https://getbootstrap.com/

Badges

This can be done with:

import {Badge} from "dashboard-widgets"
<Badge number={2} subtitle="Score" stroke="red" />

Similarly, you can have a filled badge like the following:

import {Badge} from "dashboard-widgets"
<Badge number={102} subtitle="Score" stroke="#a0f0a0" type="fill" />

Phone Element

You can add elements within a phone screen like this:

The code here is simple:

import {Phone} from 'dashboard-widgets'
<Phone>
  //Your content here
</Phone>

You can create a smaller and more minimalist phone by passing a truthy value to the small prop:

import {Phone} from 'dashboard-widgets'
<Phone small={true}>
  //Your content here
</Phone>

Dark Mode Detect

It is quite easy to detect that the client prefers dark/night mode from CSS. It can be cumbersome to do the same from Javascript. With this package, its as easy as pie:

import { isDarkMode } from "dashboard-widgets"
if(isDarkMode){
  //Code
}
