Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

decision-pony

npm AI-DECLARATION: copilot

decision-pony converts OpenAI Decisions API requests to conversational LLM API protocols (OpenAI Chat Completions API, OpenAI Responses API, Anthropic Messages API) and converts their responses back, allowing those APIs to act as an OpenAI Decisions polyfill.

It also converts between OpenAI Decisions API and TypeSafe System One (Jev) API.

Installation

pnpm add decision-pony

Usage

import {
  fromOpenAICompletionsResponse,
  toOpenAICompletionsRequest,
} from 'decision-pony'
import type OpenAI from 'openai'
import type { Decision, DecisionCreateParams } from 'openai/resources'

// Polyfill for `client.decisions.create` on OpenAI-compatible endpoints without
// Decisions API support or with non-System-One models.
async function createDecisions(client: OpenAI, body: DecisionCreateParams): Promise<Decision> {
  const request = toOpenAICompletionsRequest(body)
  return fromOpenAICompletionsResponse(
    await client.chat.completions.create(request),
    body,
  )
}

import {
  fromOpenAIResponsesResponse,
  toOpenAIResponsesRequest,
} from 'decision-pony'
import type OpenAI from 'openai'
import type { Decision, DecisionCreateParams } from 'openai/resources'

// Polyfill for `client.decisions.create` on OpenAI-compatible endpoints without
// Decisions API support or with non-System-One models.
async function createDecisions(client: OpenAI, body: DecisionCreateParams): Promise<Decision> {
  const request = toOpenAIResponsesRequest(body)
  return fromOpenAIResponsesResponse(
    await client.responses.create(request),
    body,
  )
}

import type Anthropic from '@anthropic-ai/sdk'
import {
  fromAnthropicMessagesResponse,
  toAnthropicMessagesRequest,
} from 'decision-pony'
import type { Decision, DecisionCreateParams } from 'openai/resources'

// Polyfill for `OpenAI#decisions.create` with the Anthropic Messages API.
async function createDecisions(client: Anthropic, body: DecisionCreateParams): Promise<Decision> {
  const request = toAnthropicMessagesRequest(body)
  return fromAnthropicMessagesResponse(
    await client.messages.create(request),
    body,
  )
}

import type { TypeSafeClient } from '@typesafe-ai/sdk'
import {
  fromTypeSafeSystemOneResponse,
  toTypeSafeSystemOneRequest,
} from 'decision-pony'
import type { Decision, DecisionCreateParams } from 'openai/resources'

// Polyfill for `OpenAI#decisions.create` with the TypeSafe System One API.
async function createDecisions(
  client: TypeSafeClient,
  body: DecisionCreateParams,
): Promise<Decision> {
  const request = toTypeSafeSystemOneRequest(body)
  return fromTypeSafeSystemOneResponse(
    await client.systemOne(request),
    body,
  )
}

import type { Questions, SystemOneRequest, SystemOneResult } from '@typesafe-ai/sdk'
import {
  fromTypeSafeSystemOneRequest,
  toTypeSafeSystemOneResponse,
} from 'decision-pony'
import type OpenAI from 'openai'

// Polyfill for `TypeSafeClient#systemOne` with the OpenAI Decisions API.
async function systemOne(
  client: OpenAI,
  body: SystemOneRequest,
): Promise<SystemOneResult<Questions>> {
  const request = fromTypeSafeSystemOneRequest(body)
  return toTypeSafeSystemOneResponse(
    await client.decisions.create(request),
    body,
  )
}

Limitations

OpenAI Decisions API is designed for System One models. decision-pony simulates it through an LLM's text-generation capability, so the two approaches are not equivalent. decision-pony may use more tokens, take longer, and generally produce less accurate decisions than the native Decisions API.

To make its operation resemble the System One models, decision-pony generates parameters by default that disable reasoning. If you wish to prioritize accuracy over speed, you can manually override these parameters.

TypeSafe System One (Jev) API and OpenAI Decisions API have different expressive capabilities. Conversion between them may lose information, but decision-pony preserves enough context to correctly convert the response to a converted request back to its source API.
