Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Native sandbox runtime with diff, commit, and abort for AI coding agents

Readme

deltabox-lite

This package installs the native deltabox runtime for supported Linux, macOS, and Windows systems. Windows requires WinFsp. The matching optional platform package carries the binary and the Node-API addon; bin/deltabox.js is a thin launcher that executes that binary in place, so npm install --global deltabox-lite puts a deltabox command on the PATH. No prestarted service is installed.

const { binaryPath, loadNative } = require('deltabox-lite')
const { NativeDeltabox } = loadNative()
const runtime = new NativeDeltabox(process.cwd(), binaryPath(), {
  fsMode: 'cbcow-through',
  isolation: 'deltabox',
})

Native methods return promises backed by the addon's Tokio blocking runtime. The coordinator and active filesystem state stay resident in the Node process; storage mode and command isolation are fixed at construction. The default cbcow-through + deltabox pair runs commands under the session's own sandbox and deny set, which is why isolation: 'none' has to be asked for by name: those commands share the Node process ambient environment instead. File reads and writes use Buffer, while session, checkpoint, diff, commit, abort, and review calls return protocol-shaped typed objects. Every session record names its isolation profile and the resolved isolation_provider (sandlock, seatbelt, or Windows MXC).

A command has no time limit: it runs until it exits or the host cancels it. Pass an execId as the last argument of exec and call cancelExec(execId) to end that command's whole process tree, for example on your own deadline or when the user aborts. Cancelling retires the warm sandbox runtime, so the next command starts it again.

Linux CB-CoW modes require /dev/fuse and fusermount3 or fusermount on the host. Deltabox otherwise reports the reason and falls back to copy-private unless the requested mode is required.

See the deltabox-lite repository for usage and policy documentation.
