Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Generate files from sss-hbs templates with Bun

Readme

dff-script

A Bun 1.4 CLI that generates files from sss-hbs templates. Mapping and Handlebars sources are read from that repository. CSV mapping uses CsvToJson from dff-util; rendering uses CallHbs.

bunx dff-script list
bunx dff-script hbs-cd-config '{"tenant":"dff","module":"astropeace"}'
bunx dff-script hbs-cd-ms '{"tenant":"dff","module":"astropeace","name":"auth","type":"ms"}'
bunx dff-script hbs-cd-ms dff:astropeace:auth:ms
bunx dff-script hbs-web-module user

list reads mapping.csv and prints every type with an hbs- prefix, for example hbs-cd-config, hbs-cd-ms, and hbs-gitignore.

Unquoted object keys are also accepted:

bunx dff-script hbs-cd-ms '{tenant:"dff", module:"astropeace", name:"auth", type:"ms"}'

For templates that only need a name, a plain string is accepted as shorthand for {"name":"..."}:

bunx dff-script hbs-web-module user

Colon-separated strings are also accepted as shorthand for common fields:

bunx dff-script hbs-cd-ms dff:astropeace:auth:ms
bunx dff-script hbs-cd-ms dff:astropeace:auth
bunx dff-script hbs-cd-config dff:astropeace

These map to tenant:module:name:type, with name and type optional. A single value like user or dff maps to {"name":"..."}.

These registry commands work after the package is published. To run from this repository now:

bun install
bun run build
cd /path/to/your/app
bun /Volumes/work/github/dff-script/dist/cli.js list
bun /Volumes/work/github/dff-script/dist/cli.js hbs-cd-config '{"tenant":"dff","module":"astropeace"}'
bun /Volumes/work/github/dff-script/dist/cli.js hbs-cd-ms '{"tenant":"dff","module":"astropeace","name":"auth","type":"ms"}'
bun /Volumes/work/github/dff-script/dist/cli.js hbs-cd-ms dff:astropeace:auth:ms
bun /Volumes/work/github/dff-script/dist/cli.js hbs-web-module user

list and each hbs-<type> command start from mapping.csv. The hbs- prefix is stripped to get the mapping type (hbs-cd-ms → cd-ms). Matching rows drive path, filename prefix, overwrite, and whether the file is rendered.

| Column | Role | | --- | --- | | type | Selected by the command after hbs- | | path | Directory under the current project (. is the project root) | | name | Output filename, after an optional rendered prefix | | prefix | Optional Handlebars prefix rendered with CallHbs | | overwrite | true replaces an existing file; false leaves it in place | | hbs | true renders the template with CallHbs; false copies it as-is |
