Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Zero-install npm wrapper for the do-harness agent execution harness CLI

Readme

do-harness (npm wrapper)

Zero-install launcher for the do-harness CLI:

npx do-harness init
npx do-harness verify --set verification --format json --strict
npx do-harness status --set verification

The wrapper contains no verification policy. It resolves the prebuilt binary for the current platform from a platform package installed through optionalDependencies and execs it with inherited stdio.

Supported platforms: Linux x64/arm64 (static musl), macOS x64/arm64. Other platforms install from source or download a release; Linux/macOS can use the shell installer:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/d-o-hub/do-harness/main/scripts/install.sh | sh

Windows x64 is not available through npm. The do-harness-win32-x64 platform package is rejected by the npm registry's name screening (HTTP 403, "Package name triggered spam detection"), so the meta package's pinned optionalDependency cannot resolve and npx do-harness has no Windows binary to run. The Windows binary ships as a GitHub release zip instead — see the Windows section of docs/adoption.md.

Note that npm install do-harness succeeds on Windows anyway: an absent optional dependency is not an install error. The failure appears at run time, where the shim exits 1 and points at the release zip rather than suggesting --include=optional, which cannot help.

Notes

  • npx do-harness ... runs commands without adding anything to PATH.
  • For git hooks, point DO_HARNESS_BIN at the installed wrapper (node_modules/.bin/do-harness) or install the CLI onto PATH with the shell installer; managed hooks resolve $DO_HARNESS_BIN first.
  • Versions are pinned: the meta package depends on exact platform package versions, and every publish is generated from a tagged release.
