Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

docustay — the Docustay command line

npx docustay login # paste a key from Settings → Developers
npx docustay send --test <templateId> --party signer_1="Pat Example <[email protected]>"
npx docustay listen --forward-to http://localhost:3000/webhooks
npx docustay verify --secret whsec_… --id … --timestamp … --signature "v1,…" --body body.json
  • search <words> finds documents, templates and people, best first, the same search as ⌘K in the app.
  • payments list shows what was paid while signing, newest first, with this month's figures. refund <id> --reason "…" [--amount-minor 500] refunds through Stripe (leave out the amount for the rest of the payment) and never runs without --yes, or a typed yes at the prompt.
  • playbooks list | on <name> | off <name> lists the playbooks (packs of templates and skills) and switches one on or off.
  • login keeps your key in ~/.config/docustay/config.json (mode 600). DOCUSTAY_API_KEY and DOCUSTAY_URL override it (use them in CI).
  • send --test refuses a live key unless you also say --live, so a script cannot send real documents by accident.
  • listen makes a relay webhook (once) and fetches its signed deliveries to your computer: nothing is opened to the internet, the signature your code checks is the real one, and the signing secret is printed once. docustay trigger sends a sample event; --rotate makes a new secret.
  • verify is the check your server should do, with the same code as the SDK.
  • documents lists your documents, shows one (its people and events), sends a reminder, or cancels one (void <id> --reason "…" --yes; it never runs without --yes).
  • webhooks lists, creates (create --url https://… --events a,b), tests, rotates and deletes (delete <id> --yes) the places Docustay posts events; the signing secret is shown once.
  • logs shows the email log, or --webhook <id> a webhook's recent deliveries; add --json to any command for machine-readable output.
