Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Web UI enhancements for the DeepSeek Harness (dsh) browser surface: a message navigation rail with full-history loading, a tool-activity visibility toggle, and markdown reading enhancement

dsh-web-focus

UI enhancements for the DeepSeek Harness (dsh) web surface. Three features, one goal: focus on what matters in long conversations.

  • Message navigation rail — a slim dot rail beside the transcript: one dot per user message (brand blue) and slash command (amber), hover for a 16-character preview, click to jump. Reading position is highlighted and follows you as the conversation grows.
  • Load full history — the rail's ↑ button pages through the session's windowed history automatically (same API as the built-in "load earlier" button) with zero viewport jump, so early messages are one click away.
  • Tool activity toggle — hide the process noise (tool cards, context injections, Think blocks, retries) and keep the conversation trunk. Real-time, persisted across reloads. Empty leftover rows are collapsed cleanly.
  • Reading enhancement — fixes markdown emphasis rendering (bold used to be smaller than body text) and sharpens inline code, table headers, and block quotes. On by default, one click to compare with the native rendering.

Install

Requires pnpm (used by dsh plugin).

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-web-focus

Restart dsh web once for the new composition to load. Uninstall with dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-web-focus.

Notes

  • Pure client-side plugin: no data leaves the machine, host half is a no-op entry required by the loader.
  • Built on the cordis plugin system and the dsh client module system; styles use theme tokens and follow light/dark automatically.
  • Preferences (toggle states) persist in localStorage under dshfocus.*.
  • If an upstream DOM contract changes, the plugin degrades silently by design.

Development

lib/client.js is the whole plugin — edit and save; the client HMR chain reloads it without a refresh. Debug via window.__DSHFOCUS_DEBUG in the page console.
