Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Dummy REST API

A simple mock API server that returns configured responses or default data .

Installation

Install globally to use as a CLI tool:

npm install -g dummy-rest-api

Or install locally in your project:

npm install dummy-rest-api

Usage

Global Installation

After global installation, you can run the server from anywhere:

# Start with default configuration
dummy-rest-api

# Specify custom configuration file
dummy-rest-api --config ./path/to/your/config.json
dummy-rest-api -c ./path/to/your/config.json

# Use environment variables
MOCK_CONFIG=./config/custom.json PORT=8080 dummy-rest-api

Local Installation

If installed locally, you can run it via npx:

npx dummy-rest-api --config ./config/mock-config.json

Or add it to your package.json scripts:

Configuration

Create a configuration file (default: ./config/mock-config.json) with your mock endpoints and responses.

Example configuration:

The default key defines the response for any unconfigured endpoint
