Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

duration-parser.js

duration-parser.js is a light weight English time parser.
This module contains a class constructor Time that takes in a time string, and parses it into a usable form.

Install

$ npm install duration-parser.js

Example

const Time = require("duration-parser.js");

let time;
time = new Time("10 hours and 5 seconds");
console.log(time.toString());//10 hours 5 seconds
console.log(time.seconds());//36005
console.log(time.ms());//36005000

time = new Time("3:2:1");
console.log(time.toString());//3 hours 2 minutes 1 seconds

//no need for spaces & scientific notation supported
time = new Time("7mins 5.2e+2s");
console.log(time.ms());//940000

Supported Syntaxes

Postfix notations

milliseconds: millis millisecond milliseconds milli ms ml
seconds:      seconds second sec s snd
minutes:      minutes minute mins m min
hours:        hours hour hrs hur hr h
days:         days day d dys dy
years:        years year yr y yer yar

as well as all of their upper cases and capitalized versions

Colon (:) notation

years:days:hours:minutes:seconds

Everything left of years will be ignored.

Direct number input

Direct number input will be converted to minutes.
