Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

dwayne-redux

Dwayne bindings for Redux. Inspired by react-redux.

Installation

You can install dwayne-redux using npm.

$ npm install --save dwayne-redux

Also you have to use a module bundler like Webpack or Browserify.

Usage

You have to wrap your root block which uses Redux like this:

import { Block } from 'dwayne';
import { provider } from 'dwayne-redux';
import { createStore } from 'redux';
import html from './index.html';
import RootReducer from 'RootReducerPath';

const store = createStore(RootReducer);

class MyApp extends Block {
  static html = html;

  // this will also work (instead of specifying
  // the argument in provider):
  static reduxStore = store;
}

export default MyApp.wrap(
  // if you don't specify a static property you have to
  // specify the argument here
  provider(store)
);

And then you have to wrap the block which uses the Redux store like this:

import { Block } from 'dwayne';
import { connect } from 'dwayne-redux';
import html from './index.html';

class MyBlock extends Block {
  static html = html;

  // this will also work (instead of specifying
  // the argument in connect):
  static mapStateToArgs(state) {
    return {
      prop: state.prop
    };
  }

  static mapDispatchToArgs(dispatch) {
    return {
      onClick(elem) {
        dispatch({
          type: 'CLICKED',
          elem
        });
      }
    };
  }
}

function mapStateToArgs(state) {
  return {
    prop: state.prop
  };
}

function mapDispatchToArgs(dispatch) {
  return {
    onClick(elem) {
      dispatch({
        type: 'CLICKED',
        elem
      });
    }
  };
}

export default MyBlock.wrap(
  // if you don't specify a static property you have to
  // specify the arguments here
  connect(mapStateToArgs, mapDispatchToArgs)
);

And then the block will have specified properties from the mapStateToArgs plus the props from the mapDispatchToArgs function (if mapDispatchToArgs not provided store.dispatch is passed as dispatch).

API

The plugin exports provider and connect wrappers and Connected extend class.

provider(ReduxStore?: store): typeof Block

provider wrapper uses store from the argument or the block static reduxStore property to set a global store property that is used by connected blocks.

Example:

export default MyBlock.wrap(
  provider(store)
);
connect(mapStateToArgs, mapDispatchToArgs): typeof Block

connect wrapper uses the mapStateToArgs and mapDispatchToArgs arguments (or their static block properties analogs) the same way as they are used by react-redux.

Example:

export default MyBlock.wrap(
  connect(mapStateToArgs, mapDispatchToArgs)
);
Connected

Use this class to extend the default Block class so that all blocks become connected (if they have at least one of mapStateToArgs and mapDispatchToArgs static properties).

Example:

Block.extend(Connected);
