Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.4.15

npx launcher for the Easy Review MCP server (er-mcp). Installs the prebuilt binary via platform-specific optional dependencies; falls back to GitHub Releases.

easy-review-mcp

npx launcher for the Easy Review MCP server (er-mcp).

On first run it downloads the matching platform binary from the GitHub Release that matches this package version (vX.Y.Z), caches it under ~/.cache/easy-review/er-mcp/ (or ~/Library/Caches/… on macOS), and execs it with inherited stdio.

Quick start

Wire into an MCP client (do not expect a useful interactive CLI — the server speaks JSON-RPC on stdin/stdout and waits for a client):

npx -y easy-review-mcp

Running that in a bare terminal prints a short setup hint and exits.

Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "easy-review": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "easy-review-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Claude Code

claude mcp add --scope user easy-review -- npx -y easy-review-mcp

Codex

codex mcp add easy-review -- npx -y easy-review-mcp

OpenCode

{
  "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
  "mcp": {
    "easy-review": {
      "type": "local",
      "command": ["npx", "-y", "easy-review-mcp"],
      "enabled": true
    }
  }
}

Write that to ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json (or project opencode.json).

Overrides

| Env | Meaning | |-----|---------| | ER_MCP_PATH / ER_MCP_BINARY | Use this binary instead of downloading | | XDG_CACHE_HOME | Cache root (Linux/default) |

If Claude Code stays on connecting…, clear macOS quarantine on the cached binary and reconnect:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Caches/easy-review/er-mcp

Or point Claude at a source-built binary:

cargo install --git https://github.com/VilfredSikker/easy-review --locked er-mcp
claude mcp add --scope user easy-review -- "$(command -v er-mcp)"

If no release asset exists yet, install from source:

cargo install --git https://github.com/VilfredSikker/easy-review --locked er-mcp

Supported platforms

  • macOS arm64 / x64
  • Linux x64

Version lockstep

npm/er-mcp/package.json version must match the Cargo workspace version and the GitHub release tag (vX.Y.Z). Release CI publishes er-mcp-<triple>.tar.gz assets consumed by this launcher.

Develop

cd npm/er-mcp
npm test
node bin/er-mcp.js # needs binary via PATH, ER_MCP_PATH, or a published release
