Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Create new event

Normal event

Syntax

evx.createEvent("<event name>",function(target,callback) {
  //target is a single HTMLElement object that you need to bind event to (Always single HTMLElement)
  //callback is a function that you must call when event fire

  (bind event here)

  return function() {
    (unbind event here)
  }
}

Example

Resize event (evx.createEvent step line 7)

Variable event

  • Variable event is a new event type that event name have some variable.
  • For example, I want to listen for change of attribute src and alt, so I have to bind attrchange:src and attrchange:alt event.
  • To be able to bind these two event I must create two similar event. Can I create only one event? Yes, by using variable event.
  • By using variable event you have to create variable event with prefix "attrchange" and you can bind all event that match pattern "attrchange:..."

Syntax

evx.createVarEvent("<event prefix>",function(target,args,callback) {
  //target is a single HTMLElement object that you need to bind event to (Always single HTMLElement)
  //args is an array of variable after <prefix>, for example <prefix>:src -> args = ["src"], <prefix>:src:alt -> args = ["src","alt"]
  //callback is a function that you must call when event fire

  (bind event here)

  return function() {
    (unbind event here)
  }
}

Example

Bind event

  • In callback function this variable will be element that fire event.
  • For example, if element #aaa has been resized, callback function will be called with this = HTMLElement object of #aaa and arguments up to what you have done in create event step.
  • Warning : If you use arrow function, this will equal to Window object instead of target HTMLElement object.

JQuery

Syntax

$("<selector>").on("<event name>",function(e,...) {
  ...
});

$("<selector>").on("<event name>","<selector>",function(e,...) {
  ...
});

And other syntax that you can find in http://api.jquery.com/on/

Example

Resize event (function jqueryon line 34)

Native

Syntax

evx.on(target element in HTMLElement or JQuery object,"<event name>",function(e,...) {
  ...
})

Example

Resize event (function nojqueryon line 61)
