Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

exitr-cli

The interview that doesn't say "we'll be in touch."

Team built. Team launched. Team scouted. Terminal-first. Made for the AI shift, not bolted onto it.

Try it

npx exitr-cli

The npm package is exitr-cli; the binary it installs is exitr. So npx exitr-cli runs the interview, and npm i -g exitr-cli puts an exitr command on your $PATH.

Walks you through a ~10 minute, 42-question interview across 8 sections (identity, coding, working shape, mental model, pairing, tech-lead, narrative, authenticity). A counter [N/total] shows up on every prompt so you always know where you are. Drafts auto-save after every answer, so Ctrl-C is safe — re-run later and we'll resume.

At the end you get a Gatekeeper review, a tier preview, and a structured verdict (great_at / watch_out / best_fit). Then we send a magic link to verify your email and run a one-tap GitHub Device Flow to lock in your handle. Once that's done, you're in the matching pool.

Commands

exitr Run the dev interview (default)
exitr interview Run the dev interview
exitr verify Re-run GitHub verify if you skipped it earlier
exitr --version Print version
exitr -h Help

Configuration

| Env var | Default | Purpose | | --------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- | | EXITR_API_URL | https://vlflecyesskpuzaruyys.supabase.co | Override for local dev | | EXITR_GITHUB_CLIENT_ID | live exitr OAuth App | Override for local dev (Device Flow client_id) |

Privacy

Your real identity (email, GitHub handle, country, age range) is stored for one reason: when something you build pops, we send legal paperwork to the right inbox. Day-to-day matching is anonymous-by-design — the AI sees your handle, your room sees your handle, that's it.

Status

v0.0.6-beta.2 — interview + Gatekeeper review + tier preview + email magic link verify + GitHub Device Flow lock-in + per-question progress counter. The matching engine and project-side flows ship in v0.1.
