Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Tech Stack

| Category | Technology | Version | |---|---|---| | Framework | Expo | 54.0.33 | | Runtime | React Native | 0.81.5 | | UI Library | React | 19.1.0 | | Routing | Expo Router | 6.0.23 | | Styling | NativeWind + Tailwind CSS | 4.1.23 / 3.4.17 | | Animations | React Native Reanimated | 4.1.1 | | Gestures | react-native-gesture-handler | 2.28.0 | | Keyboard | react-native-keyboard-controller | 1.18.5 | | Linting | ESLint + eslint-config-expo | 9.25.0 | | Formatting | Prettier + prettier-plugin-tailwindcss | — | | Git Hooks | Husky + lint-staged | 9.1.7 | | Language | TypeScript | 5.9.2 |

Path Aliases

Configured in tsconfig.json with baseUrl: "./src":

import { Button } from "@/global";           // → src/global
import { cn } from "@global/lib/utils";       // → src/global/lib/utils
import { AuthScreen } from "@features/auth";  // → src/features/auth

Pre-commit Hooks

Husky runs lint-staged on every commit, which automatically:

  1. Removes console.log statements from staged files
  2. Formats code with Prettier (with Tailwind class sorting)
  3. Lints and fixes with ESLint
  4. Runs Expo Doctor to check dependency compatibility

Reactix Components

The template includes Reactix UI components out of the box. The Button component supports:

  • Press animations (scale) via React Native Reanimated
  • Linear gradient backgrounds
  • Loading state with customizable indicator and text
  • Configurable dimensions, border radius, and styles
  • Platform-aware rendering (iOS / Android / Web)
import { Button } from "@/global";

<Button
  onPress={() => {}}
  gradientColors={["#4c669f", "#3b5998"]}
  isLoading={false}
  withPressAnimation
>
  <Text>Press me</Text>
</Button>

HOC Wrappers

Compose screen-level wrappers using Higher-Order Components:

import { withSafeAreaView, withKeyboardAwareScrollView } from "@/global";

function MyScreen() {
  return <View>...</View>;
}

const Safe = withSafeAreaView(MyScreen);
const Final = withKeyboardAwareScrollView(Safe);
export default Final;
