Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Extara

Extensible runtime and platform for AI applications.

Status

Extara is currently in early development. Version 0.0.1 provides a small, read-only bootstrap CLI.

CLI

Install globally:

npm install --global extara
extara --version
extara info
extara doctor

Or run it without a global installation:

npx --yes extara info

extara doctor checks the local Node.js version, operating system, CPU architecture, Git availability, and current working directory. It does not modify the system.

Vision

Extara is being designed as an extensible platform for building, customizing, and operating AI-powered applications.

Planned extension surfaces include agent runtimes, workflows, skills, tools, MCP integrations, custom application modules, developer ecosystems, and enterprise capabilities. These surfaces are not implemented in version 0.0.1.

Development

Node.js 22 or newer is required.
