ezprint-agent
Connects a local printer to EZPrint so you can print to it from anywhere.
The agent dials out to EZPrint and holds the connection open. Your router needs no port forwarding, no static IP and no firewall changes.
Install
npm install -g ezprint-agentNode 20 or newer. Runs on Linux, macOS, Windows and Raspberry Pi.
Pair
Get a pairing code from your EZPrint dashboard, then:
ezprint-agent pair XXXX-XXXXIt registers every printer this machine can see. Then start it:
ezprint-agent runKeep it running after a reboot
ezprint-agent install-servicePrints the exact commands for your platform — a systemd unit on Linux, a launchd agent on macOS, a scheduled task on Windows.
Commands
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
| pair <CODE> | Pair with an account and register printers |
| run | Stay connected and print incoming jobs |
| printers | List printers this machine can see |
| status | Show config and whether the server is reachable |
| install-service | Set up automatic start on boot |
Requirements per platform
Linux / macOS / Raspberry Pi — CUPS, which is already installed on macOS and on most desktop Linux. On a headless server:
sudo apt install cups
lpstat -p # should list your printersWindows — needs a helper to print PDFs silently, because Windows has none built in:
winget install SumatraPDF.SumatraPDFGhostscript works as a fallback if you already have it. Without either, the agent will tell you so rather than failing silently.
Configuration
Config lives at ~/.ezprint/config.json, written 0600. It holds a bearer
token for your account — treat it like a password.
Environment overrides:
| Variable | Purpose |
|---|---|
| EZPRINT_SERVER | Server URL (default https://ezprint.to) |
| EZPRINT_CONFIG | Alternate config file path |
| EZPRINT_SUMATRA | Explicit path to SumatraPDF.exe |
| EZPRINT_GHOSTSCRIPT | Explicit path to gswin64c.exe |
Privacy
Documents are downloaded to a private temp directory, sent to the printer, and deleted immediately — including when printing fails.
