Freedcamp MCP Server

MCP Server for the Freedcamp API, enabling project management, task tracking, time logging, CRM, and more through Claude and other MCP clients.

Prefer not to run anything yourself? A hosted instance with OAuth sign-in is available at https://mcp-oauth.freedcamp.top/mcp — point any MCP client at that URL and authorize with your own Freedcamp API key/secret in the browser. See mcp-docs.freedcamp.top for per-client instructions.

Setup

Requires Node.js 18 or newer.

API Credentials

1. Log in to your Freedcamp account
2. Go to Settings → API to generate your API key and secret
3. Set the environment variables:

HTTP transport with OAuth (remote / multi-user)

Already hosted for you at https://mcp-oauth.freedcamp.top/mcp — see mcp-docs.freedcamp.top for client setup. The rest of this section covers running your own instance.

By default the server speaks stdio and authenticates with a single FREEDCAMP_API_KEY/FREEDCAMP_API_SECRET pair. To let many users connect to one hosted instance — each with their own Freedcamp account — run the server over HTTP with OAuth instead:

Then point any MCP client that supports remote (Streamable HTTP) servers at https://mcp.example.com/mcp. The client will open an OAuth authorization page that asks for the user's own Freedcamp API key and secret (from Freedcamp → Settings → API). Those credentials are verified against the Freedcamp API and exchanged for a bearer token the client uses on subsequent requests.

Note: Freedcamp's API does not natively issue OAuth tokens, so this server acts as the OAuth authorization server: bearer tokens embed the user's API credentials, encrypted with AES-256-GCM under OAUTH_TOKEN_SECRET. No credentials or tokens are written to disk.
