Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.1.7

Published

Your Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and omp sessions as pets in Chrome. Local daemon, installer and the Agent Pets extension.

Agent Pets

Your Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and omp sessions as animated pets on every page in Chrome. See who's working and who needs you; approve, deny and reply from any tab.

Get a license at getagentpets.com. This package is the installer and local helper; the extension stays locked until you paste your license key.

Set up

npx getagentpets init

This connects Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and omp (whichever you have), starts a small background helper on 127.0.0.1, and puts the Chrome extension in ~/.agentpets/extension. Then, in Chrome:

  1. Open chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Drag in the extension folder (or click Load unpacked and choose ~/.agentpets/extension).
  3. Pin Agent Pets, open it and paste your license key.

Codex: Codex runs new hooks only after you trust them. Open Codex once, type /hooks and trust the Agent Pets hooks. Approvals offer Allow and Deny (Codex has no "always" from hooks). Replies from a pet go to Codex through codex queue: an idle Codex starts a turn with them, a busy one takes them next.

Start a session and your first pet walks in.

Commands

| Command | Does | |---|---| | npx getagentpets init | Install or repair everything (safe to run again) | | npx getagentpets status | Is the helper running, which extension version is installed | | npx getagentpets update | Update now (updates also install automatically) | | npx getagentpets uninstall | Remove the hooks, integrations, helper, extension files and ~/.agentpets (sessions, settings, log) |

Privacy

Everything runs on your computer. Your code and prompts never leave it. The only network calls are the license check with Dodo Payments and update checks with npm.

Requirements

Node.js 18+, Chrome or another Chromium browser. Auto-start is macOS-only for now; on Linux and Windows keep npx getagentpets start running. Custom config folders (CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR, CODEX_HOME, PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR, XDG_CONFIG_HOME) are remembered from init, so automatic updates install into the same places.
