GitGraph

GitGraph is a self-hosted Git server that indexes every push into a code knowledge graph (symbols, calls, blast radius, security findings) and exposes it to AI coding agents over MCP. This repository contains the server (cmd/gitgraph-server), the web UI (web/) and the gitgraph CLI (cmd/gitgraph).

Install the CLI

The CLI is published on npm. The binary for your platform ships inside the package, so nothing is downloaded at install time.

npm install -g gitgraph-cli
gitgraph --version

Or run it without installing:

npx gitgraph-cli auth login --host https://gitgraph.example.com

Requires Node 16 or newer. Prebuilt binaries cover macOS (Intel and Apple silicon), Linux (x64 and arm64) and Windows (x64).

Quick start

gitgraph auth login uses a device-code flow: the CLI prints an 8-character code and opens https://gitgraph.example.com/device; approving it mints a personal access token named gitgraph-cli (<hostname>) with repo:read, repo:write and mcp:read, stored in ~/.config/gitgraph/config.yaml. Pass --token for non-interactive use.

gitgraph mcp install writes the repository's MCP server into the client config:

Add --dry-run to print the config instead, or --client all for every client at once. The web UI shows the same snippets under Get started and each repository's Agents tab.
