Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Glomo Boxes

Build Status npm package

Glomo-Boxes is a set of React components that implement Glomo UI and UX vision for desktop and mobile applications.

Installation

Glomo-Boxes is available as an npm package

via npm

npm install glomo-boxes --save

via yarn

yarn add glomo-boxes

Usage

Here is a quick example of how to get started:

import React from 'react'
import { render } from 'react-dom'

// Glomo box component
import { ShowcaseReel } from 'glomo-boxes'

const App = () => (
   <ShowcaseReel>
      ...items
   </ShowcaseReel>
)

render(<App/>, document.querySelector('#root'))

Developing Locally

This project comes with a built in development environment for the time being.

yarn start

# open browser with localhost:8080

However you may wish to use something like create-react-app, for local development we will need to go through some steps.

  1. Install create-react-app on your machine.
npm i -g create-react-app
  1. Instantiate a CRA project.
create-react-app <name-of-your-test-project>
cd <name-of-your-test-project>
  1. Now we want to create a symbolic link to our modules that will eventually live in npm.
# inside /glomo-boxes
yarn link

# start webpack for development
yarn start
  1. Next we want to add the symbolic link from our modules inside our CRA test app.
# inside /<name-of-your-test-project>
yarn link glomo-boxes

# start the test app
yarn run rollup
  1. Now you are able to make changes in glomo-boxes and see those changes reflected in the CRA test app.

  2. Once you're happy with the changes you can unlink the glomo-boxes module from the test app

# inside /<name-of-your-test-project>
yarn unlink glomo-boxes

# install dependency from npm
yarn add glomo-boxes
