Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.0.8

Git Project Manager

Readme

gproj

Description

gproj is an npm package that allows you to organize your repositories into project folders, create tasks for vscode, and help with backups of .env files.

Installation

To install gproj globally, you can use the following command:

npm install -g gproj

Configuration

gproj uses a JSON configuration file to...

Example of a config.json configuration file:

{
  "config": {
    "path": "./projects", << Base folder where repositories will be organized
    "envfiles": "./envfiles" << Folder where env files will be stored
  },
  "projects": [
    {
      "name": "client-project", << Project name
      "path": "client/project", << Project folder
      "repositories": [
        {
          "path": "api", << Folder that will be created inside the project for this repository
          "repository": "git@ssh....." << Repository path
        },
        ... << You can add more repositories
      ],
      "tasks": [ << Tasks is a VSCode tool to automate processes
        {
          "label": "setupNodeEnv", << Task name
          "command": "cd ./api; yarn install", << Task execution command
          "group": "install" << Terminal group
        },
        {
          "label": "api",
          "command": "cd ./api; yarn start:dev",
          "group": "api",
          "dependsOn": ["setupNodeEnv"] << Dependency
        },
        ... << You can add more tasks
      ]
    }
    ... << You can add more projects
  ]
}

Usage

Here are some examples of how you can use gproj:

In the folder where the conf.json file is located, you can run the command below which will start organizing the folders, download the repositories pointed to in the configuration file and apply the .env files

gproj

You can also pass arguments to gproj as follows:

gproj --config ./myConfigFile.json --envfiles ./backup/envs

--config << Path to the configuration file, if you don't pass this argument, it will look for config.json

--envfiles << Path to the backup folder of environment variable files, by default it will look in the configuration file, if it is not defined it will look for ./envfiles

You can also pass the --backup argument to backup your .env files

gproj --backup

You can use the --clean argument to remove folders and lock files.

gproj --clean
