Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

setup

  1. install Node.js
  2. now open a terminal
  3. type npm install gs.motd
  4. type motd
  5. type surge
  6. follow the interactive prompt to make an account

options

motd update -t "example title"

updates the title of the message of the day

motd update -m "a message to all subscribers"

updates the message to all your subscribes

motd cname <name>

changes the name that people would type ;announce subscribe <name> to

ex:

motd cname gryphons

and in game type:

;announce subscribe gryphons

adding ;announce to your favs means it will run on login
