Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

🚀 HACKIT — Autonomous AI App Builder & Hackathon Coach

npm version license node version

From idea → plan → full-stack code → validation → hackathon pitch in minutes.

HACKIT (hackit-ai) is an autonomous, multi-agent AI system packaged into an interactive React/Ink Terminal User Interface (TUI). It acts as your AI Hackathon Coach and lead engineer—analyzing project ideas, architecting full-stack applications (Vite + React frontend & Node.js/Express backend), generating comprehensive documentation, running automated compilation checks with self-repair, and scoring your project against real hackathon judging rubrics.

⚡ Quick Start

You can run HACKIT instantly using npx (no pre-installation required):

npx hackit-ai

Or install it globally to access the hackit command anywhere on your system:

npm install -g hackit-ai

# Launch interactive Chat TUI
hackit

# Or build directly with a prompt
hackit "create an AI-powered expense tracker for Indians"

✨ Key Features

  • 🧠 Coach Agent (Planning & Spec Generation): Analyzes your prompt, cuts unnecessary scope, defines MVP features, and generates complete architectural docs (PLAN.md, ARCHITECTURE.md, TASKS.md, WALKTHROUGH.md, NEXT-STEPS.md).
  • ⚡ Parallel Builder Agents: Generates a complete full-stack web application concurrently—building a modern React (Vite + Lucide Icons) frontend and a Node.js/Express (SQLite) backend.
  • 🎨 Built-in UI Design System: Automatically enforces sleek dark-mode aesthetics, glassmorphism cards, responsive layouts, loading states, empty-state artwork, and pre-populated seed data so your app looks alive on first boot.
  • 🔄 Automated Build & Self-Repair: Executes npm run build, linting, and automated tests. If a syntax or build error occurs, HACKIT automatically analyzes the failure logs and executes up to 2 repair iterations.
  • 🎤 Pitch & Judge Scorer: Generates a 3-minute hackathon pitch deck and demo script (HACKATHON.md) and evaluates your project against real competition rubrics (JUDGE_SCORE.md).
  • 💻 Responsive Terminal UI: Built with React & Ink. Features live stage progress tracking, scrollable build logs, a tech stack switcher, and post-pipeline follow-up prompts.

⌨️ Interactive TUI Controls & Shortcuts

When running the interactive hackit terminal interface:

| Key / Command | Action | |:---|:---| | Tab | Cycle through Tech Stack presets (Vite + React + Express, Next.js, Vanilla, Vue 3, Custom) | | ↑ / ↓ Arrow Keys | Scroll live pipeline logs up and down during or after a run | | /new | Reset current workspace and start a fresh project idea | | Ctrl + C | Safely exit the CLI and restore terminal screen state |
