many of the staff at hancom left the company after the acquisition by haansoft. in october of 2006, microsoft terminated its licensing agreement with haansoft. in 2007, hanasoft corp. released the official english version of the korean hancom office suite, renamed hancom office 2010. this is the first version of the korean office suite that has included all of the apps and word processing features of hancom office suite, plus the more recent added features of microsoft office 2010.


for koreans, this strategy seemed like a win-win solution, and hancom was saved from extinction. hancom quickly re-engineered its software and released a more robust, open-source product called hancom office, which today is installed in more than 100,000 korean homes. other south korean companies followed suit. 'hancom office 2010' is the first version of hancom office that supports android.


hancom office has never been as popular in the united states or japan as it has been in korea. as a result, hancom has been careful not to alienate its home market, and it has focused instead on improving its software for the mobile market. the result: a product that is tailored to android tablets.


according to hancom, 'hancom office hwp 2014 for android' runs on a variety of hardware platforms, including the t-mobile g1 and htc dream. hancom also plans to support other android tablets, including samsung galaxy tab and htc flyer, in the future. the company plans to release the application for the ipad and iphone in the spring of 2014. hancom anticipates that the application will run well on iphones and ipads running on ios 6.0 or later. 84d34552a1
