Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

har-mock-server on NPM JSR JSR Score

Mock server from an HAR file.

From Chrome/Firefox, open the dev tools, record queries, and export it :

  • Export HAR buton on Chrome
  • Save All As HAR on Firefox by right click on queries.

And replay the queries with this mock server (npx har-mocker file.har) : it returns responses for requests matching the requested path (ignoring the hostname).

Run / Installation

With node

  • With npx : npx har-mocker examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har
  • or install it :
    • with npm i -g har-mocker
    • and run with har-mocker examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har

With deno

  • From source :
    • Run directly : ./har-mock-server-deno.ts examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har
    • Install : deno install --name har-mock-server -f -g -NR ./har-mock-server-deno.ts → then use with har-mock-server file.har
  • Run from jsr :
    • Run directly : deno run -NR jsr:@jersou/[email protected] examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har
    • Install : deno install --name har-mock-server -f -g -NR jsr:@jersou/[email protected] → then use with har-mock-server file.har

Usage

$ ./har-mock-server(-deno.ts|.js) --help
Run a mock server based on queries from an HAR file

Usage: har-mock-server [Options] <HAR file>

Options:
 -h, --help Show this help [default: false]
 -p, --port Port of the server [default: 8080]

Exemple

./har-mock-server.js examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har
# or with deno : ./har-mock-server-deno.ts examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har

The examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har file contains 3 queries :

{ "log": { "entries": [
      { "request": { "url": "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/todos/2", ... },
      { "request": { "url": "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/todos/10?param=5", ... },
      { "request": { "url": "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/todos/10?param=9", ... }
] } }

A query found in the HAR file :

$ curl "http://localhost:8080/todos/10?param=5"
{ "userId": 1, ... }%

A missing query from the HAR file :

$ curl "http://localhost:8080/todos/10?param=8"
Mock not found%

The server logs :

$ har-mock-server examples/jsonplaceholder_simplified.har
Listening on http://0.0.0.0:8080/ (http://localhost:8080/)
[200] GET http://localhost:8080/todos/10?param=5
[404] entry not found : GET http://localhost:8080/todos/10?param=8

Simplify HAR file (with deno)

To reduce HAR size to keep the minimum :

./har-simplify-deno.ts ./http1.har

→ ./http1_simplified.har is created.
