Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

heides (npm installer)

npm license MCP Tawakkul Labs

Installs the prebuilt HEIDES binary for your platform and exposes the heides command. HEIDES is a deterministic code analysis harness that gives AI agents senses, memory and judgment for code.

npm install -g heides
heides --help

On install, the matching binary is downloaded from GitHub Releases into the package bin/ folder. No Rust toolchain needed.

Supported platforms

| OS | Arch | Asset | |----|------|-------| | Linux (glibc) | x64 | heides-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu | | Linux (glibc) | arm64 | heides-aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu | | Android (Termux) | arm64 | heides-aarch64-linux-android | | macOS | arm64 | heides-aarch64-apple-darwin | | macOS | x64 | heides-x86_64-apple-darwin | | Windows | x64 | heides-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.exe |

Linux arm64 and Android are mapped to real release assets, not errors. The one family that stops the installer is musl, so Alpine needs a source build (cargo install heides) or a manual pick from the releases page. Any other unmapped platform errors the same way.

Pinning a version

The published package version is the single source of truth for which binary tag gets downloaded, and a test fails the build if the two ever drift.

npm install -g heides # binary tag follows the package version
HEIDES_VERSION=0.15.0 npm install -g heides # same variable the curl installer uses
HEIDES_BIN_VERSION=0.15.0 npm install -g heides # binary specific pin, wins over HEIDES_VERSION

Both variables take a bare version such as 0.15.0. A leading v is accepted and stripped, so v0.15.0 does not turn into a vv0.15.0 tag that 404s.

Usage

Same as the native binary:

heides scan .
heides check .
heides mcp # MCP server over stdio for agents

Versions

package.json is the single source of truth for the downloaded binary tag, and npm test fails if it ever drifts from what the installer uses. [email protected] installs the HEIDES 0.15.0 binary. HEIDES_BIN_VERSION or HEIDES_VERSION override it for a pin.

Uninstall

npm uninstall -g heides

License

MIT. See LICENSE. Binary builds follow the HEIDES repo license.
