Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

hipchat-notify

A room notification - Room owners are able to create room notification tokens that can be used to send room notification messages, popular with light-weight, notification-only integrations.

Using version 2 of HipChat's API, this Node library abstracts sending notifications to HipChat rooms.

HipChat

Installation

$ npm install --save hipchat-notify

Usage

Create a new instance of HipChatNotify for each room you want to notify, including the room ID or name and the notification token (created on the HipChat admin site under rooms->[room]->tokens).

var HipChatNotify = require('hipchat-notify');
var hipchat = new HipChatNotify(836305, '1nkUSmF8rH4QY1wMGj1rcelvtYKUG7rFteEv8ROZ');

hipchat.notify(str_or_object, [callback]);

hipchat.notify('Pastry I love cupcake fruitcake chocolate cake gummi bears dragée I love.');

The color of the message will be yellow by default, and will set notify to true. To change this, pass an Object instead of a String.

hipchat.notify({ message:'Pastry I love cupcake fruitcake chocolate cake gummi bears dragée I love.', color:'purple', notify:false });

The message_format is automatically set for you, based on whether or not your message includes HTML elements. Passing an Object instead of a String will let you override this and other defaults.

Examples

Other methods also exist to change the color.

hipchat.info('Pastry I love cupcake fruitcake <strong>chocolate cake</strong> gummi bears dragée I love.'); // gray
hipchat.warning('<i><b>Warning</b>: Cupcake powder lollipop bonbon liquorice croissant sweet.</i>'); // red
hipchat.success('Tiramisu jelly gummies bear claw brownie caramels applicake chocolate bar I love.'); // green
hipchat.error('<b>Error</b>: Marshmallow cheesecake chocolate topping chocolate cake I love ice cream.'); // red

Configuration

If you are using the hosted version of hipchat at hipchat.custom.com and need a custom hostname:

#In bash
export HIPCHAT_HOST=https://hipchat.custom.com
#If you are using a corporate proxy
export no_proxy=hipchat.custom.com
...
#In JS
var HipChatNotify = require('hipchat-notify');
var hipchat = new HipChatNotify(836305, '1nkUSmF8rH4QY1wMGj1rcelvtYKUG7rFteEv8ROZ');
