Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

holocore-ui

v0.1.0

Published

A holographic orb for AI and voice agents: a 4.5 kB zero-dependency 2D mode and a WebGL mode.

Readme

holocore-ui

A light holographic orb for AI and voice agents. Two modes: lite, Canvas 2D with zero dependencies, and WebGL, the full hologram on three.js. No framework required; a React wrapper for those who want it.

Try it in the lab, and read the full guide, at github.com/AntonioMolinaSantos/holocore-ui.

Install

npm i holocore-ui          # lite
npm i holocore-ui three    # WebGL too

Use

import { mount } from "holocore-ui/lite";

const orb = mount(document.getElementById("orb"), { theme: "holo", rings: 3 });
orb.update({ level: 0.6 }); // a voice level from 0 to 1, as often as you like
orb.destroy();
  • holocore-ui/lite: the Canvas 2D orb, no dependency. Also one file for a CDN: dist/cdn/holocore-lite.min.js.
  • holocore-ui/webgl: mount(el, { engine: "auto" }) draws WebGL where it works and the lite orb elsewhere; orb.engine says which. Needs three (0.170).
  • holocore-ui/react: <Holocore theme="holo" level={level} />, the lite orb, with no three. Add webgl={() => import("holocore-ui/webgl")} for WebGL once it has drawn.

Options: theme ("neutral", "holo", "mono", or { preset, core, rim, accent, glow, ground } in hex), rings (0 to 8), activity ("calm" or "busy"), level (0 to 1, smoothed by the orb), reducedMotion (defaults to the visitor's setting). The container needs a size. The orb never reads the URL and never opens the microphone.

Tokens

holocore-ui/tokens carries the Antonio Molina brand tokens (colour, type, spacing, radius, shadow) and the Jarvis brand, with a measured WCAG contrast for every listed text pair:

import { TOKENS, brand, contrast } from "holocore-ui/tokens";
import "holocore-ui/tokens/antonio-molina.css"; // or jarvis.css, tokens.css

brand(name) throws on an unknown name; contrast(a, b) is the WCAG 2.2 ratio of two hex colours. Tokens only: no mark, wordmark or favicon.
