Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

homebridge-daikin-skyfi

Supports Daikin Air Conditioners (that use SKYFi) on HomeBridge.

Installation

The following steps will install HomeBridge-DaikinSKYFi. In it's current form allows you to turn the power on or off, set heating or cooling mode and set the target temperature. The install may require you to run as an administrator (using a different login or sudo):

  1. Install homebridge using: npm install -g homebridge
  2. Install this plugin using: npm install -g homebridge-daikin-skyfi
  3. Update your configuration file. See sample-config.json in this repository for a sample.

Configuration

Configuration sample:

   {
       "bridge": {
           ...
       },

       "description": "...",

       "accessories": [
           {
               "accessory": "DaikinSKYFi",
               "name": "DaikinSKYFi",
               "apiroute": "http://192.168.X.X:2000",
               "pass": "XXXXX",
               "type": "SKYFi",
               "logprefix": "Kitchen"
           }
       ],

       "platforms":[]
   }

Notes on the CONFIG

The apiroute is the IP address of your with the port 2000 attached. Example: "http://192.168.0.30:2000". The pass is the passcode you use to access the unit using the Daikin SKYFi app on your phone. Example "01234". The logprefix is used to prefix log messages and may be useful if you have more than one SKYFi unit.

Credit

This whole plugin is based on the DirtyDevWork/homebridge-daikin plugin which is based on the homebridge-thermostat. Adapting DirtyDevWork's rather excellent js script for SKYFi was not as easy as I had first thought. Basically it required a rewrite of any code that sent HTTP commands as SKYFi and non-SKYFi units accept quite different commands and I also found that my Daikin SKYFi unit hates two HTTP commands being sent at the same time! More than happy for anyone to take this code and merge is back into DirtyDevWork's branch to create one Daikin module.
