homebridge-tadong

Supports triggering Tado Smart AC from the HomeBridge platform.

Complies with Service.Thermostat

Based on the initial work of Chris Kuburlis and Peter Stevenson. I've combined some of their work and improved upon it.

Installation

1. Install homebridge using: npm install -g homebridge
2. Install this plugin using: npm install -g homebridge-tadong
3. Update your configuration file. See sample-config.json in this repository for a sample.

Finding HomeID

Your username and password will be the same ones that you login to the Tado App/Website with. Luckily, finding your homeID isn't too hard.

To do this we will use the old Tado API, the /getCurrentState call returns our homeID along with some other data.

Simply amend the URL below so it has your Tado username/password in it then copy paste it into a browser.

Sift through the json to find the homeId near the end and you're good to go.

Mode and temperature changes

Because your Tado schedule (defined on their website or in their app) basically defines how your thermostat is set. You can only do temporary adjustments from Homekit. When you're using the scheduled settings, Homekit will show this as the AUTO mode as basically Tado is doing all the work.

When you adjust the temperature or set a specific mode (heating or cooling depending on your hardware), it will switch to manual mode untill the next automatic mode change.

Limitations

Currently only a single zone is supported (the first), so you can only use heating or air conditioning, not both. When setting the mode to cooling for a heating zone, nothing will happen and vice versa.

Also, setting the temperature unit to fahrenheit hasn't been extensively tested. Your mileage may vary.
